Shelly Ray

3rd Grade Teacher

Contact Me

Welcome to my class!

My name is Mrs. Ray, and I teach 3rd grade at Jefferson Elementary. I have worked in education since 2005, and became a full-time 3rd grade teacher in February 2018. I joined Jefferson Avenue Elementary in August 2019 to teach 2nd grade, and am thrilled to be looping up to 3rd grade for my fourth year of teaching!

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from American Military University, and obtained my teaching certificate through Texas Teachers. I plan to work towards my Master's degree in the near future. My certifications include Core Subjects EC-6, ESL, and GT.

My teaching motto is "EVERY STUDENT COUNTS!" My first goal is that every child should feel welcome, safe, and loved in my classroom. I try to incorporate a lot of fun into our unit lessons to keep the students engaged.

Personally, I love listening to music, traveling, being outdoors (hiking, camping, bike riding, kayaking, etc.), reading, scrapbooking, and spending time with my family. I live in Seguin with my husband and four of our six children, and three dogs! Our oldest two children live in Seattle, WA and Arcadia, FL. I am proud to be a Matador teacher and parent!

Feel free to contact me at anytime using the link on the left, or by emailing me at

I am very excited to be your child's teacher, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Classroom Expectations

We will be creating a "Social Contract" as a class; however, these are the main rules:

  1. Be kind, polite, and respectful to others and their property.
  2. Use listening ears when the teacher or other classmates are speaking, and follow directions.
  3. Do your best at all times, take safe risks, and fail forward!
  4. Keep your hands, feet, and body to yourself.
