About Rodriguez Elementary

History

Oralia R. Rodriguez Elementary School opened its doors to students for the first time on August 24, 2010. The school was named for Oralia Rios Rodriguez who was a long time teacher in Seguin. She was the daughter of migrant farm worker parents who had a strong belief in the importance of education. She graduated from Southwest Texas State Teacher's College in San Marcos in 1939 and later completed her master's degree as well. Mrs. Rodriguez taught in Seguin from 1944 until 1955 and then from 1956 until her retirement in 1969. She set and achieved high goals for herself and had high expectations for her students.
