AVID Elementary is a foundational component of the AVID College Readiness System and supports AVID’s mission to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination.
Key Components of AVID Elementary

AVID Elementary

AVID elementary focuses on grades Kindergarten through fifth and is designed to be embedded into the daily instruction of elementary classrooms across entire grade levels to maintain schoolwide structures and create a ripple effect in later grades.
AVID Elementary's implementation resources, training, and philosophy are all grounded in the idea that the growth mindset can be taught to students, and it is through the growth mindset that AVID students succeed in following their dreams and fulfilling their aspirations.

Student Success Skills: Habits, behaviors, strategies that students learn, strengthen, and maintain throughout their academic careers.

• Learning to: Write, Inquire, Collaborate, Organize, Read
• Partnerships for life-long success: Building community in the classroom and grade level
