Seguin High School Visual Art
The Visual Art program at Seguin High School provides students with a strong foundation in creative expression and two-dimensional art. In Drawing and Painting II and IV, students explore personal themes using materials such as pencil, charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, and oil paint, while participating in class discussions, critiques, and written reflections. Advanced artists can enroll in AP 2-D Art and Design or AP Drawing, college-level courses focused on building a digital portfolio through experimentation and revision. Dual Credit Art Appreciation broadens students’ understanding of global art history and the role of art in culture and communication. Beyond the classroom, Art Club offers a welcoming space for independent projects, collaboration, contest preparation, and campus or community activities. Together, these opportunities help students develop their skills, confidence, and creative voice.

Program Highlights:
We participate in the Guadalupe County Fair, Operation FaceLift, Art & Wine Walk, Meet in the Middle, and various art contests including: the Bryan Museum's "I am Texas", San Antonio Stock Show's Western Art, Bucks Fever's Poster Contest, and more..

Art AP 2D Design / Art AP 2D Drawing
The AP 2-D Art and Design course is a college-level class focused on creating and submitting a digital portfolio of original two-dimensional art and design work. Students explore a variety of media, including painting, drawing, digital imaging, photography, and collage, to develop their skills in composition, material synthesis, and idea generation through practice, experimentation, and revision. The course does not have a written exam; instead, students submit a portfolio to the College Board in May for evaluation, which can potentially earn them college credit.

Dual Credit Art Appreciation
Art Appreciation will introduce students to the visual arts and the variety of art mediums and techniques used to create two and three dimensional works of art. Students will also study the history of art beginning with the Stone Age to the present. The purpose of this course is to build a context for understanding the art; structurally, socially, culturally and historically with the intention of making art meaningful to the students everyday life. Students will explore and analyze influential works of art as a way to gain an understanding of the arts as a method of communication and expression. While reflecting upon and assessing the characteristics and quality of art; students will develop, explore and express their personal aesthetics through art projects, class discussions, gallery visits and writing.

Art Club

Art Club meets weekly in my room for independent artistic endeavors, group projects and collaboration with other clubs, or extra help with contest entries. Some students just want an environment to feel safe taking creative risks or extra advice on artwork they are working on. Whatever the reason, It is a place where creative people come to gather and make things happen. Art club regularly participates in activities on campus such as Meet in the Middle and off campus such as facepainting at the the Koennecke Fall Fest or mural work with Operation Facelift at the American Legion.
